Underground Motion: Cinematic U-Bahn Portraits in Berlin Descending into the heart of the city, this series captures the frenetic energy of the Berlin U-Bahn. Set against the vintage tiles and iconic yellow trains of the underground, these environmental portraits juxtapose stillness with motion. utilizing slow shutter speeds (shutter drag) to blur the passing trains, I aimed to create a visual metaphor for the fast-paced urban life of Berlin, while the subject remains a sharp, stoic focal point. The styling—featuring sharp tailoring, a buzz cut, and avant-garde makeup—adds a high-fashion editorial feel to the gritty public setting. This collection is a study in wide-angle composition and available light photography within one of Berlin’s most recognizable transit systems.
